National Proposal Day - Where to Pop the Question in Lex!

By Intern Jossi Duda

What better day to have National Proposal Day than on the first day of spring? National Proposal Day was founded by John Michael O’Loughlin, who created the holiday after watching his cousin wait for years for her boyfriend to propose to her. He made this holiday to remind people of the possibility of proposing before it is too late. This special day takes place on the vernal equinox when the stars and planets align to make life-changing events happen such as marriage proposals. About 50,000 couples all over the world get engaged on National Proposal Day. I can’t think of a better way to get engaged than on a beautiful spring day here in Lexington. Here are the top three places in Lexington to propose to your loved one!

Talon Winery

If you are looking for a proposal location where the pictures will be filled with gorgeous Kentucky farmland, Talon Winery is the place for you. Although it is about 25 minutes outside of downtown Lexington, the peaceful views and delicious wine will create an irreplaceable experience for you and your partner.

Whether you’re a local in Kentucky or just stopping in for a visit, it is no surprise that horse racing is a vital part of the state. Keeneland, located in a more serene part of Lexington is not only a fun daytime activity but also the perfect place for a beautiful proposal.

Kroger Field

Kentucky may be the horse capital of the world, but it is not the only sport that Lexington natives love. The University of Kentucky is a top competitor in the SEC in both football and basketball. Proposing on the Jumbotron at Kroger Field could be an extravagant way to pop the big question. So, if you and your partner both enjoy sports and want a stadium full of people to witness your proposal then this is the location for you.
