We just wrapped up our first Fashion Week and we had so much fun cultivating the looks. Here's a recap in case you missed it!
On Monday we started off with Mix it up Monday! Since thrifting is all the rage right now, especially among younger people, we showcased a couple of throwback looks from Vintage Therapy here in Lexington. The Coke rugby was hugely popular back in our day and evidently it still has everyone wanting one, and cut-off denim shorts never go out of style. By recycling 100 pounds of clothes, did you know that the effect on the environment is that of removing 26,000 to 35,000 cars off the road? That's huge! Plus, you can score great deals on unique looks!
Tuesday had us highlighting transitional pieces to get you through these mini-winters that Kentucky is famous for before it finally warms up around here. The sweater in pretty pastels paired with distressed denim and white boots will keep you warm while still shouting "Spring is on its way!" The classic boyfriend blazer is also a must-have as it easily slips on over any top to make you look polished. Check out E. Leigh's Boutique for more fun fashion!
Wow Wednesday was exactly that...wow! The stunning dresses from Bella Rose were exquisite, especially the cobalt blue cocktail dress! What UK girl wouldn't want that in her closet? Spring is full of special events, from proms to graduations, award nights, and weddings. You can't go wrong with one of these beauties!
On Thursday we wanted to showcase some awesome looks for men because why should girls have all the fun when it comes to fashion? From shirts with colored buttons to custom suits, and bright colored shirts in checks and florals, our friends at Mac and Clay know how to make you stand out in a crowd. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to getting just the right fit which is so important when it comes to men's fashion. As ZZ Top famously sang, "'Cause every girl crazy about a sharp-dressed man". We couldn't agree more!
Friday ended on a high note with Leigh and I getting all gussied up in showstopper dresses from Macy's with The Kentucky Castle as our backdrop. We felt like royalty in these looks, mostly from Calvin Klein and DKNY. These are just the thing to wear to Keeneland and the Kentucky Derby this year. Don't forget to utilize Macy's Personal Shopper Service. It's free! Jennifer Maggard is our dear friend and she will help you find just what you are looking for whether it's a special event, an upcoming vacation, or just a fashion refresh! Now that we are coming out of Covid (please, oh, please), it's time to once again put on our Sunday best and remember what it's like to feel good in our clothes!
And that wraps up our first annual Fashion Week! We hope you enjoyed these looks! Special thanks to our intern Alannah who worked hard on this project and our photographer, Hunter Mitchell who took our photos at The Kentucky Castle. (You can look for more fashion segments coming at you as Alannah has agreed to be our summer intern and she has a love of fashion.) We are excited for what's to come! Happy Spring, everyone!
