It's August, y'all! While the stores may be telling you it's time for back to school and fall, summer isn't dead yet! There are lots of great events coming up this month, and here are three you don't want to miss, starting with this weekend!
1) Shaker Village Craft Fair - Sat and Sun (Aug 3 and 4) from 10-5, you can peruse the finest wares by local craftsman including pottery, glassware, needlework, leather goods, basketry and Shaker reproductions. To go along with it, there will be live music, food trucks and more! Your admission includes all of the wonderful experiences at Shaker Village. The weather will be perfect, so no reason not to spend the day (or two) in this beautiful oasis.
2) The Longest Yard Sale - Covering 690 miles, this annual tradition is not to be missed. If you're a lover of American Pickers, this is your Super Bowl! Start on US 27 and go north or south for as long as you like. There are major vendor stops in Lawrenceburg, Danville and Frankfort. Check their website to find out more.
3) Railbird - this is it! The biggest music festival of the year and it's happening on the beautiful grounds of Keeneland August 10-11. Music, bourbon, equine, it's the trifecta of festivals and you want to be a part of it! The musical lineup includes The Ranconteurs, Brandi Carlile, Tyler Childers, Old Crowe Medicine Show and many, many more.
