Today is a day that is near and dear to my heart. Ever since I was little I absolutely loved cheese. Whether sliced, cubed or melted into queso, I’ve always considered it a completely separate ( and the most important) food group. With that being said, one of my favorite foods on the planet is a grilled cheese, crispy on the edges and soft in the middle to be specific. So, when I heard that National Grilled Cheese Day was coming up, I couldn’t help but be excited. Luckily, I’ve already gotten familiar with some truly wonderful places to get a spectacular grilled cheese here in Kentucky, and even looked up some more to share with you all!.
This is my favorite grilled cheese ever!! The first time I had it, I could not believe it was possible for one to be this delicious. It’s made on freshly baked sourdough bread and features cheddar cheese, bacon, delicious slices of avocado and a special dijonaise sauce. You absolutely have to try it!
Almost every review written about this spot raves about its signature grilled cheese. It features smoked gouda, caramelized onions and balsamic on asiago bread. Not a combination that would automatically come to mind when you think of grilled cheese but sounds like it’s worth a shot!
This Kansas-style BBQ restaurant in Louisville gives you the option of choosing any of their BBQ’d meats to put on your grilled cheese. Pulled pork, pulled chicken, smoked sausage, turkey and brisket are all on the menu.
They say 3 is a magic number and this grilled cheese practically screams magical. American, swiss and provolone cheese sandwiched between a bread of your choice AND grilled in garlic butter! Yes, GARLIC BUTTER! Sounds like an absolute dream.

With so many other amazing options on its menu, it surprises me that their grilled cheese is even raved about. But I guess that has to be a good sign. The name says it all and this grilled cheese keeps it simple, cheddar cheese on their big boy bread. They also have fresh soup and salads perfect for pairing.
