Nacho Average Week; It's Taco Week!

Updated: Sep 11, 2019

Lexington has a huge culinary scene and one of the things I love most about it is our themed food weeks. We have Burger Week, Pizza Week, and now...Crave Taco Week! Brought to you by the fine folks at Smiley Pete Publishing and Casa de Cultura (a nonprofit to promote Latina culture), it is March 4-10 and includes 22 restaurants. To get the details, visit https://www.cravetacoweek.com/. Here are our top three places to go for tacos in Lexington:

Uno - Mi Pequena Hacienda - located in the Landsdowne Shopping Center, this is our go-to place for Mexican cuisine. So fresh, so yummy, and seemingly always in close proximity to where we are at any given moment, this place is hard to beat.

Dos - Local Taco - On the University of Kentucky campus, any craving for Mexican food can be satisfied here. Their specialty taco for Taco Week is the Carolina Blue Taco which is pulled pork with Carolina mustard bbq sauce. Wowza! Can't wait to try that! They also get bonus points for having a great patio. Now, if it will just get warm enough for us to enjoy it!

Tres - El Espolon - Jefferson Street provides many culinary opportunities, and the newest one to join the gang is El Espolon. Leigh and I have tried it once and are going back for Taco Week. Located in the former Enoteca spot, they have food good enough to develop a loyal following; count the Buds among them. And they make their own hot sauce, y'all! Muy Caliente!

Like we said, there are over 22 participating restaurants, so feel free to challenge your friends to see how many tacos you all can eat next week. Even Crank and Boom is getting into the act with a Triple Choco-Loco Taco for those of us whose stomachs can't handle the spice. See, something for everyone! It's going to be a terrific week!

P.S. And in case you all didn't hear the great news... Taco Tico is going to open a second location. If you haven't tried their enchiladas, you're missing out!
